The Commission for Carbon Competitiveness is disappointed that the Chancellor has not yet taken the opportunity to commit to a Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) in the Autumn Statement yesterday.
If implemented right, a carbon border adjustment could ensure British manufacturers meet the net zero target without deindustrialising.
The Commissioners believe that their proposals, supported by a coalition of energy intensive industries, are an urgent step to prevent job losses and industrial decline in the UK, and once again urge the government to adopt them without delay.
